The Race for Men's Fragrance: A Growing Market Attracts Luxury Brands

By Editor • August 25, 2026 • 1 min read

The competition among designer beauty brands for men's fragrance consumers is heating up, driven by the rise of beauty routines among men and boys, particularly influenced by platforms like TikTok. Recent data from Circana reveals a 7% increase in dollar sales and a 3% rise in unit sales for men’s fragrances during the first half of 2026, contrasting with stagnant sales in women’s prestige fragrances.

Dior Sauvage continues to lead as the top men’s fragrance in the U.S., yet YSL Beauty has claimed the number-one brand position since 2025, propelled by the success of its Myslf line launched in 2023. Valentino Beauty has also made significant strides, with its Uomo fragrance now second behind Sauvage.

L’Oréal is the dominant player in this market, boasting five brands in the top ten, while Puig holds two, showcasing a diverse competitive landscape. The evolving preferences of male consumers, who now often seek multiple fragrances for various occasions, are reshaping the market. As Linda G. Levy from The Fragrance Foundation noted, men are transitioning from a single signature scent to exploring broader collections.

Retail giants like Macy’s are noting this shift, with men increasingly favoring luxury and personalized experiences across different price ranges. The most successful products this year include eaux de parfum and ancillary items such as shower gels, further prompting brands to innovate and expand their offerings.
