In a significant transfer move, Tottenham Hotspur has struck a £75 million deal with Manchester City for Brazilian winger Savinho, with an additional £10 million contingent on performance-related add-ons.
The 22-year-old, who joined City from Troyes in 2024, will undergo a medical examination before finalizing a long-term contract with Spurs. This transfer has been in the works for over a year, as Tottenham attempted to secure Savinho last summer, but he chose to stay at the Etihad Stadium, where his opportunities were limited under Pep Guardiola.
Last season, Savinho made only seven appearances in the Premier League, and his output for City raised some eyebrows regarding Tottenham's hefty investment. He scored just two league goals during his tenure there, despite showing promise during a loan spell at Girona, where he recorded nine goals and eight assists across 37 matches in the 2023-24 season.
Tottenham’s head coach, Roberto de Zerbi, is keen to bolster his attacking options after already spending £185 million on midfield reinforcements. The club's summer spending is expected to exceed £300 million, but they have recouped around £140 million from player sales, including Cristian Romero and Djed Spence.
Additionally, Spurs are exploring further signings, with discussions ongoing for Savinho's teammate Omar Marmoush and Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, though financial constraints may complicate these pursuits. Tottenham will commence their Premier League season against Brentford this Saturday, while Manchester City faces Bournemouth on Sunday.
