Tragic Incident in Caen: Car Strikes Pedestrians, One Dead

A late-night incident in Caen, France, turned deadly when a car crashed into pedestrians, resulting in one fatality and ten injuries, seven of which are critical.

The suspect, a 26-year-old Russian man, fled the scene but was later apprehended in Ouistreham, about 20 kilometers away. Authorities revealed that this man was not known for any serious offenses, only traffic violations.

Deputy prosecutor reports the attack is not being treated as terrorism, suggesting it may have stemmed from a prior altercation. The victims, primarily men aged 17 to 40, were struck near the train station shortly after 10:15 PM.
