Tragic Loss: Six-Year-Old Girl Dies After Family Drowning Incident

A six-year-old girl, Saja el-Khawas, has succumbed to her injuries in a Sussex hospital following a tragic drowning accident that claimed the lives of her family members earlier this week.

Saja’s father, Hassan El-Khawas, 55, mother, Zeina Alayn, 37, and sister, 14-year-old Sara, drowned at Shoreham on Tuesday while visiting during a heatwave. The family resided in London but originated from the Rashidieh refugee camp in Lebanon.

Sussex police confirmed the ongoing investigation suggests a “tragic accident” without any third-party involvement. Prime Minister Andy Burnham called the incident a “terrible family tragedy.”
