Trump Announces Historic Oil Agreement with Venezuela

In a striking announcement on Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that the United States has secured a deal with Venezuela to control 65 billion barrels of its oil reserves. The agreement, which Trump proclaimed as 'THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY,' was reportedly negotiated by key figures including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth alongside Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez.
This deal comes in the wake of a U.S. military operation aimed at capturing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who faces charges of narcoterrorism. The announcement arrives amidst rising gas prices, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Iran and dwindling U.S. strategic petroleum reserves.
Venezuela is home to some of the world's largest oil reserves, estimated at 303 billion barrels. However, due to deteriorating infrastructure, the country currently produces only about 1% of global oil supply, despite the reserves being well-mapped and known.
