Trump Distances Himself from Defeated Florida Congressman Mills

Former President Donald Trump has publicly distanced himself from Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) following Mills’ loss in the Florida 7th district primary, where he was defeated by former TV anchor Ryan Elijah.

On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to reveal he had advised Mills to withdraw from the race, stating, "I told Congressman Cory Mills of Florida, a friend of mine, to get out of the Race, but he wouldn’t listen." Mills' defeat marks a significant moment, especially amid ongoing investigations into his conduct, including alleged campaign finance violations and a restraining order related to threats against an ex-partner.

Despite Trump's earlier endorsement of Mills, he did not repeat this support before the primary, a notable shift given Mills' controversial reputation in Congress. Trump had previously hailed him as an "America First Patriot" but remained silent on the allegations that have plagued Mills throughout his campaign.
