Violence Escalates in West Bank: Two Palestinians Killed in Separate Incidents

By Editor • August 21, 2026 • 1 min read

Recent violence in the occupied West Bank has resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, highlighting the ongoing tensions fueled by Israeli settlers and military actions. A 17-year-old named Karim Sanad Shalaldeh was shot during an attack by Israeli settlers in Khirbet Hamroush. Reports indicate he was struck in the chest and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Additionally, a 70-year-old man was injured in the same assault, which involved armed settlers raiding the area and igniting Palestinian homes.

In a separate incident in Jenin, Israeli forces fatally shot 58-year-old Fathi Khazem during a raid on his home. The Israeli military claimed Khazem attempted to stab troops, prompting the lethal response. However, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that the Israeli army did not permit the family to retrieve his body for burial.

Emergency medical services faced significant challenges, as Israeli forces reportedly blocked access to aid in the aftermath of these shootings. Moreover, a 14-year-old boy was also treated for gunshot wounds sustained during a separate Israeli operation near Jenin.

Amidst these incidents, Qusra has been under siege from Israeli settlers for over a week, with local residents struggling to access food and medical supplies. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese condemned the situation, calling the Israeli military actions “immoral” and condemning the violence against Palestinian communities. Human Rights Watch has documented that state-supported settler violence has displaced over 100 Palestinian communities this year alone, amid international outcry over Israel's settlement expansion plans.
