Weigh-In Chaos: Hrgovic and Itauma Clash Ahead of Title Fight

The atmosphere turned electric at the weigh-in for the upcoming IBF heavyweight title bout between Filip Hrgovic and Moses Itauma, as tensions flared into an unexpected altercation. While preparing for their showdown at London’s O2 Arena, Itauma, the 21-year-old British heavyweight, pushed the 34-year-old Hrgovic off the stage, prompting an immediate response.

After regaining his balance, Hrgovic retaliated by slapping Itauma, igniting a chaotic scene as security rushed in to separate the two fighters. Hrgovic later commented, "He pushed me first so I just gave it back. He started it," emphasizing his belief that Itauma was the instigator.

Before the incident, Hrgovic weighed in at his lightest in seven years, tipping the scales at 16st 12lb (107kg), while Itauma matched his previous weight at 17st 4lb (110kg). Promoter Frank Warren noted Itauma's aggressive approach as a way to assert his presence against Hrgovic’s experience, suggesting that the shove was a prelude to their upcoming battle. Despite the chaos, the weigh-in attracted a crowd eager to witness the spectacle, with many cheering for Itauma as he navigated through the market.
