The appeals stemmed from a controversy surrounding incorrect pit-lane speeding penalties, which affected multiple drivers during the race. The court of appeal concluded that the parameters for measuring pit-lane speed could not be altered mid-race, asserting that the original calibration must remain consistent for all competitors. Despite establishing that Gasly had not exceeded the speed limit using a different measurement, the court ruled that retrospective adjustments to results would undermine sporting fairness. Alpine expressed disappointment with the ruling but acknowledged the panel's decision, emphasizing their commitment to improving performance moving forward.
