The IFA Berlin 2026 showcased a unique blend of art and functionality as AEG invited four talented designers to reinterpret the Bauhaus movement through their latest 3-in-1 oven. The four artists presented vastly different takes on the Bauhaus ethos, demonstrating the movement's versatility. Alpay Efe, the eventual winner, crafted an illusionistic design that mimicked a drawing, using a palette of sage green, cream, and slate blue with a distinctive copper line. Darius Puia, known as Baka Arts, ventured into a more serene realm with his desert-themed oven, characterized by a tranquil palette and a solitary figure. This entry stood out for its calmness amidst a lineup filled with vibrant colors and textures, showcasing a different aspect of Bauhaus that emphasizes reduction and negative space.
Pablo Fontagnier, or Hombre SUK, took a bold approach by enveloping his oven in a vibrant pattern of pizza slices, basil, and tomatoes, alluding to the appliance’s pizza mode. His design exuded confidence and creativity, transforming the oven into a lively, street art-inspired piece.
Joyful Geometric Expression
Josephine Rais presented a grid-based design filled with playful motifs of vegetables and suns, challenging the rigidity of her structure. Rais's background in industrial design informed her confident approach to this three-dimensional canvas.
