Bristol Fighter Makes a Limited Comeback with Only Five Units Available

Bristol Cars is reviving its legendary Fighter model, marking a significant return after a 15-year hiatus. The British marque, known for its unique automotive flair, will produce only five of these exclusive vehicles, utilizing original chassis that had been dormant for years.

One of the five Fighters has already been completed and will be showcased at the prestigious Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace. The remaining four will be custom-built to order, employing original engineering designs and components from the limited number of Fighters that survived the company's earlier struggles.

A Nod to Aviation Heritage

Paul King, owner and director of Bristol Cars, emphasizes that this revival is more than just a nostalgic endeavor; it's about rekindling the distinct spirit of the brand, rooted deeply in aviation and engineering. The Fighter will feature an impressive 8.0-liter V10 engine, boasting a standard 525hp option as well as a powerful 600hp variant. Bristol claims a remarkable top speed of 210mph for this grand tourer, which retains its signature long, low body and iconic gullwing doors.

Classic Design Meets Modern Craftsmanship

The first of the continuation models showcases a sleek black exterior paired with a tan interior, reflecting Bristol's unconventional aesthetic. Inside, the cockpit echoes its aviation lineage with an array of controls and gauges, including an engine-hours counter—a nod to the brand's aeronautical roots. This design philosophy stands in stark contrast to the streamlined digital interfaces seen in contemporary supercars.

The Fighter originally debuted in the early 2000s with a V10 sourced from the Dodge Viper but was never produced in large numbers due to Bristol's financial troubles. Now, this continuation series not only fulfills a nostalgic desire but also serves a practical purpose by completing unfinished chassis from the past.

The bespoke nature of the remaining Fighters allows for customizations, with options for right- or left-hand drive configurations. Bristol is collaborating with a specialized British manufacturer for the production of these vehicles. Notably, the company is timing this revival to coincide with the 80th anniversary of its first production car, the Bristol 400, which made its debut in 1946.
