Chalhoub Group Partners with Global Fashion Agenda to Tackle Sustainability Challenges

By Editor • September 4, 2026 • 1 min read

The Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) is enhancing its collaboration with the Chalhoub Group, focusing on sustainability within the luxury market of the Middle East. This partnership, initially announced in May, aims to integrate Chalhoub's extensive regional expertise into the broader conversation around sustainable practices in fashion.

Strengthening Sustainability Efforts

With GFA's commitment to sustainability, the partnership will leverage Chalhoub's knowledge in managing complex value chains to inform various initiatives. GFA CEO Federica Marchionni emphasized the importance of the Gulf region in the global fashion transformation, stating, "The Gulf region is no longer on the periphery of fashion’s transformation: it is at its center." Chalhoub's seven decades of influence in the market is expected to provide significant leverage in this effort.

Addressing Scope 3 Emissions

Chalhoub's sustainability report highlights a pressing challenge: Scope 3 emissions, which constitute over 90% of its carbon footprint. With investments contributing 47% and purchased goods and services another 31% to these emissions, Chalhoub is committed to reducing their intensity by 58% per $1 million in revenue by 2032, using a 2021 baseline for reference.

Future Goals and Initiatives

Chalhoub has identified key decarbonization strategies, focusing on renewable energy sourcing and enhancing climate engagement with brands. The newly introduced Planet FWD platform will support these initiatives, which include achieving net-zero emissions and implementing circular business models by 2030. Chief Sustainability Officer Florence Bulté expressed optimism about the partnership with GFA, stating it will foster dialogue and knowledge exchange as they work towards ambitious sustainability goals.
