Dubai Gallery Unveils Harmonious Blend of Open and Intimate Exhibition Spaces

The Gary Tatintsian Gallery in Dubai Design District has adopted an innovative design approach by integrating expansive white exhibition halls with a secluded museum room. Created by MAST Studio, led by architect Vladislav Gaiduk, the 338-square-meter gallery redefines the art-viewing experience through its thoughtful spatial organization.

Innovative Layout and Design Features

Responding to a brief for a flexible gallery compliant with international standards, MAST Studio restructured the original L-shaped layout into a rectangular form. The central office area is flanked by two exhibition halls, while a separate section houses the museum room and storage. The design minimizes partitions to maximize visibility for larger artworks, with walls stopping below the ceiling to ensure a cohesive flow throughout the space.

Contrasting Atmospheres and Material Choices

Light plays a critical role in establishing two contrasting atmospheres within the gallery. The white exhibition halls provide a neutral backdrop, allowing artworks to take center stage, while the museum room, enclosed by dark brick-toned MDF panels, offers a more intimate setting. This room's design features subdued lighting and a grand entrance, emphasizing its significance and creating a dialogue between contemporary pieces and ancient artifacts.

The gallery showcases a diverse range of artists, including Peter Halley and Tony Matelli, whose works explore themes of space and realism. With its dynamic layout and contemporary aesthetic, the Gary Tatintsian Gallery promises to adapt seamlessly for future exhibitions.
