Federal Court Exempts Google from Selling Ad Exchange Despite Antitrust Verdict

A U.S. federal judge has ruled that Google will retain its online advertising exchange, known as AdX, despite its 2025 antitrust loss. The Department of Justice (DOJ) had sought to compel the sale as a remedy after proving Google restricted competitors' reach in the ad tech market.
While the court found that Google had unlawfully confined publishers to its exchange, it rejected claims that the company's advertising tools broke the law. Consequently, the DOJ's push to sell the ad exchange was denied, highlighting minimal repercussions for Google.
