Food Safety Alert: 14 Recalls Affecting Shoppers This Week

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ramped up its food recall efforts, responding to a surge in safety concerns across various products. This week, consumers are advised to be particularly cautious as several items linked to potential contamination have been flagged, including produce, snacks, and dressings.

A notable recall involves Everything Sprouts from Minnesota, which has voluntarily pulled its five-ounce cups of Robust Radish Mix and Alfalfa Sprouts due to possible E. coli and salmonella contamination. Over 50 reported illnesses are associated with the alfalfa products, though no cases have been linked to the radish mix.

In addition, mangoes distributed to Walmart in several Northeastern states are under scrutiny. The affected boxes, labeled as "Martina," could potentially carry salmonella, although no illnesses have been reported so far.

Grand Central Bakery has also issued a recall for its Potato Sourdough Bread. A pallet nail was discovered in one of the loaves, prompting the recall of various sizes sold on August 10, 2026. Similarly, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream recalled its Outshine Frozen Fruit Bars due to the presence of shards of glass, affecting certain flavors sold in 2.5-ounce packages.

Salmonella fears continue to dominate the recall landscape, with multiple brands recalling jalapeños and related products. Hardie's Fresh Foods and Coast Citrus Distributors are among those recalling jalapeños that may have contaminated ready-to-eat items like dips and guacamole found in stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Salata Dressings also pulled its Jalapeño Avocado Salad Dressing from HEB stores in Texas after potential contamination was highlighted.

Food to Live has expanded its recall to include a range of powdered greens, with several products, including Organic SuperGreens and Moringa Leaf Powder, possibly containing salmonella. The Hampton Grocer has followed suit, recalling its Lacnola Lactation Granola due to the inclusion of Organic Moringa Powder from the Food to Live recall.

On a different note, Walmart's Marketside Tomato Bisque Kits were recalled across 29 states due to potential listeria contamination, although no illnesses have been reported thus far. In a smaller recall, jars of Vitasia Asian Style Wok Spice Mix sold at Lidl stores may also be tainted with salmonella.

Another significant recall involves GreenWise-brand frozen blueberries and mixed berries sold at Publix, categorized as a Class I recall due to potential E. coli contamination. The FDA has flagged this recall as particularly serious, indicating a significant health risk.

Lastly, products like Rooted in Rare Aquafaba Powder and Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter are facing recalls due to undeclared eggs and potential salmonella contamination, respectively. The aquafaba powder, marketed as a vegan egg substitute, poses a major concern for consumers who rely on it for dietary restrictions.
