Hull City Fined and Supporters Banned Over Homophobic Chanting

Hull City has been handed a £30,000 fine following incidents of discriminatory chanting during their FA Cup match against Chelsea in February. The club is taking a firm stance against such behavior, urging fans to refrain from repeating the offensive chants in future encounters.

During the match, which ended in a 4-0 defeat for Hull, multiple warnings were issued to the crowd via the public address system, and messages were displayed on screens, urging fans to cease their chants. Despite these warnings, the behavior continued, leading to the arrest of three supporters for allegedly participating in homophobic chanting.

In a statement, Hull City expressed their strong condemnation of the language used by the offending supporters, labeling the chant as a homophobic slur that could be classified as a hate crime. As a result of the incident, the club has banned three individuals for a minimum of three years and emphasized that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
