Hypershell's Halo: The Game-Changing Exoskeleton for Your Knees
By Editor • September 5, 2026 • 2 min read
For avid hikers, the descent often proves more challenging than the ascent, putting immense strain on the knees. Unlike its predecessors, Hypershell's new exoskeleton, the Halo, aims to address this critical weakness by integrating knee support with hip assistance.
Innovative Design Meets Functionality
The Halo is a groundbreaking advancement in exoskeleton technology, featuring a cohesive system that links hip and knee movements. With two motors at the hips and two at the knees, the Halo operates under a single control architecture, eliminating the synchronization issues that plagued earlier models. This thoughtful design allows for a more natural movement, which is crucial for anyone who has faced knee discomfort during steep descents or long hikes.
Lightweight and User-Friendly
Weighing in at just 2.6 kilograms, the Halo is crafted from a combination of carbon fiber and titanium, making it both lightweight and durable. It boasts a powerful 1,490 watts output and is equipped with a replaceable battery that supports approximately 20 kilometers of assisted walking. Compact enough to fit in a daypack, the Halo can be donned in about 20 seconds, even while carrying a full backpack, ensuring that users can quickly gear up and hit the trails.
Smart Technology for Seamless Hiking
Hypershell has also incorporated an AI component named HyperIntuition 2.0, designed to adapt assistance based on real-time terrain and movement analysis. Additionally, the exoskeleton features a smartwatch-controlled assistant named Shelly, aimed at minimizing disruptions during hikes. While its practicality remains to be tested, the concept of reducing user friction is a promising step forward in exoskeleton technology.
Priced at $2,299 for the Origin Edition, the Halo is positioned above Hypershell's previous models, which focused solely on hip support. However, for those grappling with knee issues or recovering from injuries, the Halo presents a unique solution that may justify the investment. Pre-orders are currently available for customers in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, and China, with shipping set to begin in November.
