Israel Claims Destruction of Hezbollah Infrastructure in Southern Lebanon

By Editor • September 10, 2026 • 1 min read

The Israeli military has announced the successful destruction of Hezbollah's underground facilities located on the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. This operation, described by Israeli officials as crucial for security, aims to prevent the militant group from reestablishing its presence in the area.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israeli forces will maintain a presence in the region to thwart any attempts by Hezbollah to rebuild its capabilities. Katz previously stated that Israeli operations had forced Hezbollah fighters out of a complex network of tunnels beneath the contested ridge, situated approximately 15 kilometers from the Israeli border.

Reports indicate that the Israeli military executed a significant explosion on the ridge, causing tremors felt in surrounding areas like Nabatieh. The military claimed to have gained "operational control" over the ridge, which includes extensive underground facilities housing rockets, missiles, drones, and a command complex for Hezbollah's Badr unit. This infrastructure allowed Hezbollah fighters to operate underground for prolonged periods.
