How to Contribute
To participate, you must be a subscriber to The First Thing. Once subscribed, you will find a dedicated link in the Picture of the Day section to submit your photos. The newsletter emphasizes inclusivity and encourages all types of images but suggests that photos be in a horizontal ('landscape') format for optimal presentation.
Submission Guidelines and Limitations
When you submit your photos, aim for high-resolution images to ensure they look great when published. Keep in mind that only the top 20 entries will be featured each week, so if your photo isn’t selected, don’t hesitate to try again! John Stupart, the newsletter's editor, is particularly fond of dog photos, but all subjects are welcome.
For those who are professional photographers, while there’s no payment for submissions, you’re encouraged to share links to your portfolios. The First Thing will do its best to promote your work as part of the gallery.
