In a surprising turn of events, a 36-year-old man has been taken into custody by Hong Kong police after allegedly absconding with a Mark Six lottery jackpot worth approximately HK$30 million. The jackpot was meant to be shared among a group of 15 colleagues, including staff from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD).
The incident came to light when a 53-year-old man filed a report with the police on Wednesday, revealing that he and his coworkers had pooled their money to purchase a Mark Six ticket for the recent draw. However, after the winning numbers were announced, the suspect reportedly fled, leaving his colleagues in the lurch.
The police have since initiated an investigation into the matter, as the group seeks to resolve the unexpected fallout from their collective gamble.
