Petrol and Diesel Prices Hiked Ahead of Weekend

The government has announced an increase in fuel prices, with petrol up by Rs2.84 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.28 per litre. Effective from September 4, petrol will now cost Rs349 per litre, while HSD will be priced at Rs374.31 per litre.
This decision follows a trend of fluctuating prices, with HSD having fallen from a high of Rs520.35 in April, and petrol peaking at Rs458.41 during the same month. These adjustments come as the government adapts to volatile international market conditions, particularly amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik revealed that fuel prices will now be adjusted daily, reflecting ongoing international price changes. This new system aims to mitigate the impact on consumers, particularly those in the middle to lower-income brackets, who rely heavily on these fuels for transportation.
