Queen Mary Hospital's New Block Faces Lift Setbacks

In a disappointing update for Queen Mary Hospital, only four out of the 28 lifts in the newly constructed clinical block will be operational after minor repairs are completed. This announcement came from Hong Kong's Architectural Services Department on Thursday.
The HK$13.5 billion (US$1.72 billion) facility has encountered significant lift issues, with the majority requiring extensive work that will not be finished until the end of the year. The four lifts currently deemed acceptable serve non-clinical areas and are set to undergo minor repairs.
Authorities indicated that the remaining lifts had frequently malfunctioned, raising concerns about the operational efficiency of the new block.
