London-based jewellery designer Rachel Boston is set to revolutionize men's engagement jewellery with her new collection, 'Relic.' Launching with ten unique rings, Boston aims to blend contemporary design with ancient Roman influences, creating pieces that are both substantial and stylish.

Boston emphasizes a departure from traditional men's engagement rings, stating, 'There is still quite a narrow visual language around men’s engagement jewellery.' Her vision for 'Relic' is to establish rings that are not only design-led but also timeless, showcasing an interplay of proportion and form rather than unnecessary decoration.

The collection features rings crafted from 18ct gold and platinum, characterized by a sculptural sensibility. Boston's fascination with Roman signet rings informs her designs, as she merges historical elements with modern aesthetics. 'Roman signet rings would traditionally have been set with carved gemstones such as onyx, garnet, and carnelian, but I loved the idea of taking these ancient forms and setting them with modern-cut white diamonds instead,' she explains.

Attention to detail is paramount in Boston's approach, with several designs utilizing a historical Roman setting technique that highlights the diamonds in an architectural manner. The contrasting themes of weight and lightness, ancient and modern, are evident throughout the collection, aiming to evoke a sense of history while remaining distinctly contemporary.
