During a brunch visit to Flynn McGarry's Gem Home last winter, a team member uncovered a striking slab of stone in the sink, leaving diners intrigued. This unusual find sparked curiosity about the role of natural elements in restaurant interiors, leading to further exploration of similar themes in other establishments.

Pizza 4P’s: A Boulder Bonanza

At Pizza 4P’s, a Vietnamese pizza restaurant that opened in Brooklyn this summer, the trend reaches its peak with six massive boulders incorporated into the design. These hefty stones, selected for their unique shapes and sizes, play a pivotal role in the layout of the space. Guests are greeted by a striking boulder as they enter, serving as a host stand, while additional stones create a winding pathway through the dining area. Global branding director Kazuya Kubota emphasized that the design was crafted around the natural stones, enhancing the blend of urban and pastoral aesthetics.

At Rhythm Zero, owned by Ivana Somorai, the use of rocks reflects a commitment to natural materials inspired by Japanese design.
