The creation of Koa involved a unique post-training approach that utilized synthetic data rather than actual customer data. This methodology included simulating various customer service scenarios, from dealing with irate customers to guiding sales professionals through closing deals. Govindarajan explained that this simulation was crucial for developing a model that understands the nuances of customer interactions and can respond effectively.

In addition to its specialized capabilities, Koa is designed to be more cost-effective than utilizing models like Claude or ChatGPT, particularly in terms of token efficiency. Nvidia's VP of Generative AI Software for Enterprise, Kari Ann Briski, emphasized that the unique architecture of Nemotron allows for efficient reasoning, catering to the economic aspects of token usage. Despite this new offering, Salesforce continues to maintain partnerships with Anthropic and OpenAI, recently launching ClaudeForce to enable clients to use Claude while keeping their data secure within Salesforce's systems.
