In a fierce confrontation in Chagai, security forces eliminated 12 armed assailants who attacked a convoy linked to the Reko Diq copper and gold project on Monday. The convoy was on its way to Quetta when the ambush occurred.
Officials reported that the attackers opened fire on the convoy, which was under protective escort, in the Nokacha area. The exchange of gunfire lasted over two hours, resulting in injuries to two security personnel.
Initially, it was stated that 11 terrorists were killed, but Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti later confirmed the death toll had risen to 12. Bugti emphasized that the government would not engage in negotiations with those resorting to violence and pledged ongoing operations against terrorist factions.
