In a creative twist on photography, former TikTok executives Melody Chu and Jing Liu have launched Superpose, a new iOS app designed to revolutionize the way users pose for photos. Launched in July, the app employs artificial intelligence to suggest poses, aiming to enhance the selfie experience.

Superpose acts as a digital assistant for photography, allowing users to capture selfies or photos of friends while the AI generates four pose options. With over 22,000 downloads and 190,000 poses generated since its inception, the app offers five free pose suggestions daily, with additional packs available for purchase.
A Personal Inspiration
Chu’s motivation to create the app stemmed from her difficulties in getting good photos taken by her husband. She realized that advancements in AI could help address this common issue. “There has to be a way to solve this problem with advancements in computer vision and generative AI,” Chu explained. The app emphasizes capturing real-life moments rather than creating fantastical images, setting it apart from other AI photography tools.
Funding and Future Developments
Superpose has successfully raised $2.2 million in funding from various investors, including Khosla Ventures and Meitu. As the app continues to evolve, the team is focused on improving pose accuracy and personalization, with a commitment to enhancing the user experience.
