In a brazen theft, criminals have pilfered two trailers loaded with an impressive 70,000 pints of Guinness Stout from an industrial park in Runcorn, England, near Liverpool. The stolen goods, consisting of 800 barrels of the iconic beer, are valued at approximately £115,000 (around $155,000), and were en route to local pubs that now face the possibility of running dry.
Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy expressed his commitment to recovering the stolen items, emphasizing the need for justice. He remarked, "It is famously said that 'Guinness is good for you,' but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for. We will settle for nothing less than the full recovery of all the items stolen." The trailers themselves, valued at £50,000 (about $67,000), remain elusive.
This audacious heist may draw inspiration from a similar incident in California, where thieves made off with $70,000 worth of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Pabst Brewing Company CEO Greig DeBow humorously addressed the crime on TikTok, stating, "I'm sure they look cool with a garage full of PBR. That's actually not cool though. We want it back." It appears beer thefts are on the rise, leaving law enforcement scrambling to quench the thirst for justice.
