Turkish Textile Industry Takes Root in Post-War Syria

The Turkish textile sector is making significant strides in Syria, with LC Waikiki inaugurating a new manufacturing facility in Aleppo. This development, reported last week, signifies a potentially transformative moment for the region's economy and its recovery from conflict.
New Factory Opens in Aleppo
In June, LC Waikiki commenced operations at its factory located in Al-Rai Industrial City, currently employing 150 workers. The company plans to expand its workforce to as many as 1,000 within the next three years, indicating a robust growth trajectory for the local economy.
Growing Interest from Turkish Firms
LC Waikiki is not alone in its venture; other Turkish manufacturers are eyeing similar opportunities. İsparko is reportedly exploring partnerships with Syrian investors to establish its own factory, while Mikrotx is investigating the potential for new spinning mills. Additionally, Mersan & Tümkalıp is in discussions to assist in modernizing production lines that have been idle due to the war.
Textile Investments on the Rise
According to Syrian media, the country received 234 applications for textile and ready-to-wear investments in the first half of 2026. This surge includes proposals for new facilities, upgrades, and the resumption of production lines. The recent NasTex exhibition in Damascus further highlights the region's revitalization, bringing together numerous companies from around the world to foster connections with Syrian producers.
