Volvo Unveils Class-Leading Range for XC60 and XC90 Plug-In Hybrids

By Editor • September 14, 2026 • 1 min read

Volvo has taken a significant leap in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market with the announcement of its updated XC60 and XC90 models. These new iterations are poised to redefine expectations with their impressive electric-only ranges.

Exceptional Electric Range

Unlike the typical PHEVs that offer a battery-only range of 30 to 50 miles, Volvo's latest offerings promise to stretch that distance considerably. The XC60 is touted to achieve an impressive 78 miles on electric power alone, while the XC90 follows closely with a remarkable 73 miles.

Setting New Standards

These figures mark a significant improvement, more than doubling the electric range of their predecessors. The data is preliminary and based on EPA testing, suggesting that if these numbers are validated, Volvo's PHEVs could set a new benchmark in the segment.
