Congressional Delegation Pushes for Abrego Garcia's Return from El Salvador

A group of four Democratic lawmakers has traveled to El Salvador to advocate for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. Reps. Yassamin Ansari, Maxine Dexter, Maxwell Frost, and Robert Garcia engaged with U.S. embassy officials in their efforts to secure Abrego Garcia's release.

This visit follows a similar mission by Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, who emphasized the importance of protecting constitutional rights for all individuals residing in the U.S.

Despite a Supreme Court order mandating his return, the Trump administration has not acted. Recent claims from the Department of Homeland Security suggested a connection to human trafficking and gang activity, which Van Hollen insisted must be addressed legally rather than through deportation. Frost condemned the administration's actions, describing them as a violation of due process and labeling the situation as a government-funded kidnapping program.
