Germany Takes Action Against Extremist 'Kingdom of Germany'

The German government has moved decisively to dismantle the far-right group known as the 'Kingdom of Germany,' which has been operating outside the bounds of the state’s sovereignty. This crackdown involved a coordinated operation across seven regions, resulting in the arrest of five individuals, including the group's self-proclaimed monarch, Peter Fitzek.

Fitzek, an ex-karate instructor, founded the organization in 2012, claiming to establish a sovereign state complete with its own laws, currency, and identity documents. He has been known to address the media from a renovated property he calls his 'palace,' dressed in royal attire.

The Interior Ministry stated that the group has approximately 6,000 supporters who dispute the legitimacy of the Federal Republic of Germany. Their ideology is tied to conspiracy theories, including anti-Semitic narratives, and they have developed pseudo-state structures over the past decade, such as a banking system. This operation marks a significant response to the rising influence of far-right extremism in Germany, especially as the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party gains traction in the Bundestag.
