A Slice of Paradise: My Stay at a Scenic Milos Lodge

Milos, a volcanic gem in the Cyclades, offers more than just breathtaking azure waters. Its rugged terrain teems with vibrant flora, and the aromatic scents of wild herbs fill the air during spring. Upon arriving at our Airbnb just outside Trypiti, I was enveloped by the earthy fragrance of sage, thyme, and lavender, setting the tone for our tranquil escape.
Nausicka, the property owner, guided us to our villa, named after the lush herbs that thrive on this nine-acre estate. The sea-view accommodations featured minimalistic interiors crafted from local stone, enhancing the natural beauty outside. With expansive glass doors, the view of dancing oat plants and red grass against the blue sea was mesmerizing.
Access to a private cove was a delightful surprise. A short walk led us to a sunlit stone platform where we could bask in the sun and plunge into the crystal-clear waters. Although the cove was shared with neighboring lodges, we enjoyed it in solitude, soaking in the sounds of the waves while losing ourselves in a good book.
Evenings on the southern side of the island were magical as the sunset illuminated the landscape, transforming earthy browns into glowing golds. After a day of sun and sea, we enjoyed dinner delivered from a nearby taverna, surrounded by candles in our outdoor kitchen. The morning brought a delightful breakfast basket filled with local delights, making our departure bittersweet. As we navigated the island’s rocky roads, we knew this hidden haven was a place we would return to.
