Apple Delays iPhone 18 Launch to 2027 Amid Chip Shortages

In a surprising turn of events, Apple has confirmed that the much-anticipated iPhone 18 will not be released this year, with a new report from Pegatron indicating a launch postponed to 2027.
During its Q2 2026 earnings call, Pegatron revealed that while the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are set to debut next month, the base iPhone 18 is now slated for Q1 2027. This shift marks a significant deviation from Apple's usual launch pattern.
The delay is attributed to ongoing chipset and memory shortages, which have also affected smartphone pricing. Meanwhile, the upcoming September event is expected to showcase the Pro models and the first folding iPhone, dubbed the iPhone Ultra.
