Beloved Actress Shelley Fabares Passes Away at 82

Shelley Fabares, renowned for her roles in classic television sitcoms like "The Donna Reed Show" and "Coach," has died at the age of 82 in Los Angeles. Her family shared their sorrow in a heartfelt statement, expressing their deep love for her and the joy she brought into their lives.

Fabares was beloved as Mary Stone, the daughter in "The Donna Reed Show," which aired on ABC from 1958 to 1966, amassing a total of 275 episodes. She appeared in 192 of those episodes, departing the series in 1965. Later, she captivated audiences as Christine Armstrong on "Coach," where she starred alongside Craig T. Nelson from 1989 to 1997, earning two Emmy nominations for her performance.

In addition to her television success, Fabares briefly enjoyed a music career, achieving a No. 1 hit with her 1961 single, "Johnny Angel." She also starred in several films, including three alongside Elvis Presley. Her television career included appearances on a variety of shows, such as "Fantasy Island," "The Love Boat," and the poignant TV movie "Brian's Song," where she portrayed Joy Piccolo, the wife of an NFL player facing terminal illness.

Born in January 1944 in Santa Monica, California, Fabares grew up in a showbiz family. She was married to music producer Lou Adler and later to actor Mike Farrell. The couple was active in social causes, particularly in the 1980s and 90s. Fabares faced significant health challenges later in life, undergoing a liver transplant in 2000, which raised awareness for organ donation.
