BFI London Film Festival Unveils 2026 Competition Lineup Featuring Global Talent

The BFI London Film Festival (LFF) is gearing up for its 70th edition, revealing a competitive lineup of ten films that will compete for the coveted best film award. The selection showcases an impressive array of international filmmakers from ten different countries, including the U.K., Japan, and Brazil.
This year’s competition reflects diverse storytelling, spanning various genres from fiction to documentary. Notably, it features the world premiere of Carol Morley’s latest film, 7 Miles Out, which is based on her own novel depicting the trials of adolescence against the backdrop of Manchester’s music scene in the 1970s and 1980s.
Other standout directors include Hirokazu Kore-eda and Sergei Loznitsa, with the festival set to run from October 7 to October 18. Festival director Kristy Matheson expressed excitement about the eclectic mix of seasoned and debut filmmakers in this year’s lineup, promising an inspiring experience for audiences.
