China's Advanced Chip Production Set to Skyrocket by 2035, Says Goldman Sachs

By Editor • August 24, 2026 • 1 min read

China is poised to significantly reduce its reliance on imported advanced chips over the next decade, as domestic manufacturers ramp up their output. According to a recent report from Goldman Sachs, the production of wafers utilizing processes of 7-nanometres and smaller is expected to experience a remarkable compound annual growth rate of 46% from 2025 to 2035.

Despite this ambitious growth trajectory, Goldman Sachs warns that challenges in lithography equipment may hinder China's quest for complete semiconductor autonomy. This bottleneck could prevent the nation from achieving full independence in chip production, even as domestic foundries make substantial strides.
