Chuck Saftler, a prominent figure in television, is stepping away from Disney and FX after an impressive 33-year tenure. Joining FX in 1993, before its launch in June 1994, Saftler played a crucial role in shaping the network's identity.
In his recent position as head of acquisitions for Disney networks, which include ABC and Nat Geo, Saftler contributed significantly to the expansion of programming offerings. In a memo to staff, he expressed pride in his journey, stating, “It’s hard to put into words what these three decades have meant to me.”
Saftler was instrumental in FX’s evolution, transitioning from live programming to acquiring iconic series like “The X-Files.” He also forged a landmark $750 million deal in 2013 to syndicate “The Simpsons” on FXX, enhancing the franchise's presence on platforms like Disney+.
Before his time at FX, Saftler worked with KTLA in Los Angeles and contributed to the syndication success of hits like “Seinfeld.” Beyond his television career, he is passionate about live music and photography.
