The anticipated merger of Japan's Centrist Reform Alliance (CRA) with the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) and Komeito has hit a snag. At a recent meeting, CDP chief Shunichi Mizuoka announced that the merger will not proceed, despite Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi facing declining approval ratings.
Mizuoka's reluctance to hasten the merger has been evident for months, as he expressed a preference for exploring a unified parliamentary group instead. The failure of these opposition entities to unify only underscores the growing divide among them, complicating any potential challenge to the ruling coalition.
