Dolly Parton, the beloved country icon, cherished her down-to-earth image throughout her life, and her relationship with alcohol reflects this simplicity. While the superstar captivated audiences with her music and charm, she was never one to indulge in heavy drinking.
In a candid interview with NME, Parton revealed her minimal engagement with alcohol, noting that she only drinks on special occasions or when flying, as a means to ease her nerves. “I never did do drugs or alcohol,” she explained, preferring to keep her life free from tabloid scandals.
Her drink of choice? Red wine, which she has favored for years. In a 1992 interview with the New York Times, she specified her preference for red wine with a dry finish. Occasionally, she would pregame with a quick shot of tequila, but she admitted it wasn’t her favorite.
Besides her limited drinking habits, Parton was passionate about food, particularly potatoes, featuring ten recipes in her cookbook. Interestingly, she also launched her own wine brand, Dolly Wines, which includes a California chardonnay and pinot noir.
