DRX Expands Horizons with New Digital Entertainment Division and K-Drama Projects

By Editor • August 21, 2026 • 3 min read

DRX, a prominent name in the esports scene, is setting its sights on a new venture: the digital entertainment sector. With a young, engaged audience, the organization aims to leverage its existing fan base to explore K-dramas, game publishing, and original content creation.

Can Yang, co-CEO of DRX, expressed his belief in the timing of this transition, noting how entertainment consumption has evolved. "Our audience moves very naturally between esports, games, streaming and other forms of content, so we do not see these as completely separate businesses," he stated.

The company has formed a strategic subsidiary, WebsCreative, which started as a marketing agency but has now expanded to include game publishing and content development. Yang indicated that DRX is injecting new funding into WebsCreative to enhance its content team and improve its project delivery capabilities.

Among the key initiatives are two upcoming K-drama projects that have already secured their casts, featuring well-known actors from Korea. Yang mentioned that both dramas are backed by major broadcasting networks renowned for their successful K-drama offerings. Notably, WebsCreative will handle production responsibilities for one project, while co-producing the second alongside an established IP owner. Conversations with international distributors are also in progress to broaden their reach.

Yang elaborated on the selection process for projects, emphasizing criteria such as market relevance, audience demand, scalability, and long-term monetization potential. Rather than competing with larger production firms, he sees DRX's approach as additive—combining production expertise with insights into digital audiences.

Despite the competitive landscape of K-dramas, Yang remains focused on carefully selecting projects and collaborating with strong production partners. He noted that DRX's existing global youth audience and WebsCreative's marketing experience give them a unique edge as they seek to make their mark in the industry.

Looking ahead, Yang shared DRX's ambition to not just invest in existing projects but also to develop and own original content. This progressive vision involves gaining experience through co-productions, eventually leading to the company's own intellectual properties.

In addition to K-drama ventures, DRX is venturing into game publishing, capitalizing on its esports expertise. Yang believes that this new pillar aligns naturally with DRX's core competencies, making the transition seamless. The organization aims to create an integrated entertainment model where esports, game publishing, and content IP support one another.

While acknowledging the value of their esports audience, Yang is cautious not to assume that fans will engage with every new project. Each initiative must stand on its own merit to attract a wider audience. He envisions a future where esports figures could star in film and television, further intertwining the company’s various entertainment branches.

As DRX expands its reach beyond Korea, Southeast Asia is a key focus. Yang mentioned ongoing efforts to establish a presence in countries such as Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia, highlighting their importance in DRX's growth strategy.

Though DRX is venturing into broader digital entertainment, Yang confirmed that esports will always remain a core element of their identity, stating, "Esports will always be a very important part of DRX because that is where the company built its brand and its audience."
