Edward Bluemel Takes on Iconic Role as Hercule Poirot in New BBC Series

The beloved detective Hercule Poirot is set to return to screens, with Edward Bluemel stepping into the iconic role for the upcoming series titled Hercule. The BBC and BritBox unveiled first-look images of Bluemel, known for his roles in My Lady Jane and Killing Eve, as the young Belgian sleuth.

Filming has commenced in Liverpool for the six-part series, which promises to delve into the intricacies of Poirot's character while portraying Britain in the interwar period. The storyline will explore three of Agatha Christie’s early tales, introducing not only future allies but also a notable adversary.

Bluemel is joined by a diverse cast, including Henry Ashton, James D’Arcy, and Tamsin Greig, among others. Hercule is produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Ltd., with plans for release on BBC iPlayer and BritBox in 2027. The series is written by Benji Walters and directed by a talented team including Jonny Campbell and Chanya Button.
