Colleferro Ammunition Plant Explosion Leaves No Injuries

A significant explosion rocked an ammunition factory in Colleferro, located about 40 kilometers southeast of Rome, on Thursday, according to local carabinieri.
The facility, owned by the German defense group KNDS, manufactures medium to large-caliber ammunition for land and naval defense, as well as solid fuels for space launchers. Firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.
Despite the explosion's intensity, which was captured in videos showing a large fireball and a thick plume of smoke, there were no reported injuries. An initial fire reportedly triggered the explosion, allowing employees to evacuate to safety.
Colleferro's mayor, Giulio Calamita, described the incident as a “great scare” but assured that all personnel were safe. Regional president Francesco Rocca expressed his concern for public safety and emphasized the importance of a thorough emergency response.
