Flavor Hills Closes Its Doors, But Legacy Lives On

By Editor • August 18, 2026 • 1 min read

In a surprising turn of events, Flavor Hills, a Black-owned restaurant chain established in Jacksonville, North Carolina, has announced the closure of all its locations. The news, shared on Facebook on August 14, marks a bittersweet chapter for a brand that celebrated Black culinary excellence since its inception in 2021.

Founded by Marine Corps veterans Andre Truss, Tellers Pollard III, and Eric Johnson, Flavor Hills expanded to multiple sites, including Raleigh, Durham, and Myrtle Beach, with its latest Durham venue opening less than a year ago. In their farewell message, the chain expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "the people inside of it became family."

Despite the closures, Flavor Hills will pivot to a catering model under the leadership of executive chef Morgan Tieanne, who aims to retain the essence of the menu that showcased Southern comfort food with a Caribbean flair. While the restaurant landscape continues to face challenges, the spirit of Flavor Hills and its commitment to serving authentic local flavors will endure, ensuring that the legacy of this beloved establishment lives on.
