Imagine soaring above the traffic to catch a Lakers or Kings game at Crypto.com Arena. Thanks to a new partnership between AEG and Archer Aviation, that dream could soon become reality.
The collaboration aims to establish downtown Los Angeles’ first vertiport for electric air taxis at L.A. Live, enabling swift 10- to 20-minute trips that would normally take hours on the road. Archer’s Midnight air taxis, which are designed to carry four passengers at speeds of up to 150 mph, promise a quieter and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional helicopters.
With plans to connect notable locations such as SoFi Stadium, USC, and LAX, Archer's operational hub will be Hawthorne Airport. The partners have already conducted a feasibility study, and are now focused on refining operational details and enhancing the guest experience. As part of this effort, the exact locations for takeoff and landing are still under review.
AEG's Nick Baker expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize transportation for major events at L.A. Live. Archer’s founder, Adam Goldstein, sees this initiative as pivotal for advancing all-electric flight in Southern California, especially ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
