Gaza Peace Board Issues Warning to Hamas Amid Israeli Threats

By Editor • August 25, 2026 • 1 min read

The US-led Board of Peace overseeing the Gaza situation has issued a stern warning to Hamas regarding militant activities, specifically the use of kites, following threats of retaliation from Israel. An official from the Board stated that all militant actions must cease, emphasizing that both Hamas and Israel must adhere to the ceasefire conditions.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu escalated tensions by threatening to intensify military operations against Hamas if they continue to engage in activities such as flying kites, drones, or balloons. These measures have resurfaced concerns in southern Israel, particularly after kites were reportedly found crossing the border, reminiscent of previous incendiary tactics.

Basem Naim, a member of Hamas's political bureau, expressed outrage at the Board's warning, criticizing the portrayal of innocent children's activities as threats while condemning Israel's ongoing violence. Meanwhile, the UN labeled the Israeli threats as unacceptable, calling the idea of expelling children for flying kites outrageous.

Since the ceasefire was declared in October amidst escalating violence, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened, with 1,288 Palestinians killed according to health authorities. As Netanyahu faces electoral pressures, skepticism over Hamas's disarmament promises continues, complicating the peace process further.
