Government Unveils Major Diesel Price Cut Following Refinery Talks

The government has announced a notable reduction in diesel prices, following productive discussions with petroleum refineries. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik confirmed that the decrease will exceed Rs30 to Rs32.
Malik revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif initiated these negotiations, leading to multiple virtual meetings with refinery officials. The refineries ultimately conceded to the government's request for a price drop, acknowledging current economic challenges.
Further details were shared by Tarar, who noted that the prime minister emphasized the importance of extending relief to the public amidst rising global oil prices. He highlighted that this price cut, which is expected to be finalized by Ogra soon, is a significant step towards alleviating financial pressures on citizens, particularly for those reliant on diesel for transportation.
