Guzzle: The Irish Food Magazine Connecting Cultures Through Cuisine

By Editor • August 27, 2026 • 1 min read

Amid a technological world, Jane Gleeson launched Guzzle, an illustrated magazine that uses food as a means to explore broader themes and foster community. "Food is spilling into unexpected territories," Gleeson highlights, referencing high-profile culinary collaborations and the growing presence of food at art events like the Frieze Art Fair.

Guzzle’s latest issue, the third, delves into the ephemeral concept of home, featuring a commissioned cover by Laura Callaghan. Although Gleeson started the magazine in Dublin, it now thrives in East London, maintaining a strong Irish identity. With contributions from writers across the globe, including Cape Town and New York, Guzzle serves as a reconnection point for the Irish diaspora.

Each issue intertwines personal narratives and humor, addressing topics ranging from the struggles of commercial kitchens to recipes inspired by local crises. The magazine's visual identity was originally crafted by Dublin designer Shane Bonfield, ensuring that the art enhances the storytelling.

Guzzle emerged during the pandemic when Gleeson transitioned from the art world to gastronomy, driven by a desire to create real-life experiences beyond digital screens. "I started to dream up a new way of engaging audiences," she recalls. Future plans for the next issue include a celebration of parties, promising a mix of entertaining stories and cultural commentary.
