Ikea and Xbox Launch Gaming-Inspired Furniture Collection

The latest collaboration between Ikea and Xbox is set to revolutionize gaming spaces at home with the Yxstaby collection, designed specifically for gamers. This nine-item lineup features furniture that draws inspiration directly from Xbox controllers.

Among the standout pieces is a mint green pillow shaped like the D-pad's directional arrows, a faceted dish reflecting the buttons of the Elite Series controllers, and a unique stool resembling a gigantic thumbstick that allows for pivoting movements.

According to Carl Ledbetter, Xbox's design head, the collaboration aims to accommodate the evolving nature of gaming, which now permeates various rooms in the home. “Gaming has advanced from the basement. People play games in all the rooms of the home,” he noted.

Practicality also played a key role in the design process. The collection includes a mobile TV stand featuring a chalkboard surface that not only supports a large screen but also provides storage for consoles and cords. This versatility allows for easy repositioning during gaming sessions.

Product developer Philip Dilé emphasized the importance of creating multi-functional pieces that blend seamlessly into everyday living spaces. The lounge chair, for instance, is crafted for both focused gaming and casual use, complete with a storage pouch for controllers.

Fans of the collection can expect to find Yxstaby items in Ikea stores and online starting this fall.
