Keffe D Claims His Nephew Fired the Shots that Killed Tupac Shakur

During a courtroom session on Thursday, jurors were presented with a 2008 audio recording in which Duane “Keffe D” Davis implicated his late nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, as the shooter in the 1996 drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur. At the time of the interview, Anderson had already passed away, but Davis detailed the events surrounding the tragic incident that claimed the life of the hip-hop icon.

Davis recounted how he, Anderson, and two others were traveling in a white Cadillac when they encountered Shakur and Death Row Records head Marion “Suge” Knight. He mentioned that had the car been positioned differently, he would have fired his own weapon. Instead, he passed his gun to Deandre “Big Dre” Smith, who refused it. Anderson then allegedly took the gun and began shooting at Shakur.

This revelation marks the first time Davis has openly discussed his role in the killing to law enforcement, making it a key piece of evidence for the prosecution. Davis had previously denied Anderson's involvement and speculated about the potential roles of Knight or Sean “Diddy” Combs in the shooting. He has pleaded not guilty to charges surrounding the murder, with his attorney labeling the prosecution's claims as “fiction.”

The detectives who conducted the interview initially sought Davis's insights regarding the unsolved murder of Shakur’s rival, the Notorious B.I.G. Throughout the interrogation, the detectives assured Davis that his admissions would remain confidential, a claim that prosecutors argue was invalidated by Davis's subsequent public disclosures about the shooting.

As the courtroom listened in silence, Davis's recollections opened a window into the chaotic moments leading to Shakur's death, a tragedy that continues to resonate deeply within the music community decades later.
